For those applying for post-completion Academic Training in STEM eligible programs: The STEM extension is required to be reviewed by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs, Office of Private Sector Exchange Designation prior to extension of the DS-2019 and authorization of Academic Training. As a result, processing time for post-completion Academic Training applications with STEM extensions can take up to 2-3 weeks. Please understand that this is a government entity and there is no escalation process for the STEM extension.
